Yes. US$195 covers the official PECB eLearning, the exam voucher, remote proctoring and the certification fee. There are no separate exam fees.
Is this course PECB eLearning or PECB Self-Study?
It is PECB eLearning, which PECB delivers through PECB Certified Trainers in pre-recorded video format, with quizzes and the official course materials on myPECB, and it earns 14 CPD credits on completion. PECB Self-Study is a different PECB format: the official course materials without the recorded lessons, which PECB describes as suitable for people with considerable knowledge of the subject who do not require assisted lecturing, and it earns 7 CPD credits for a course of the same length. PECB makes its video lessons available only in eLearning. US$195 is the price for this eLearning course, charged in US dollars, and it includes the PECB exam voucher, two exam attempts, the certification fee and 12 months of access. What PECB eLearning and Self-Study each include.
How many exam attempts are included?
Two. Your first sitting is included, and if you do not pass, your second attempt within 12 months is included too.
Are there any additional fees?
No. US$195 is charged at checkout, in US dollars. PECB charges no maintenance fee on Foundation certificates.
How long does the course take?
About 14 hours, the eLearning equivalent of a two day classroom course, and you have 12 months of access.
What is the exam format?
A 1-hour, 40-question, closed-book multiple choice exam, delivered online with remote proctoring. You need 70% to pass, and you book one of the scheduled online exam sessions in myPECB.
Do I need any experience before I enrol?
No. Foundation is designed for people new to ISO 27001, and it is the recommended starting point before Lead Implementer or Lead Auditor.
Should I take Foundation, Lead Implementer or Lead Auditor?
Foundation gives you a working understanding of ISO 27001, which suits team members and project stakeholders. Lead Implementer qualifies you to build and manage an ISMS, and Lead Auditor to audit one.
Why pay US$195 when free ISO 27001 courses exist?
Free courses can teach the concepts, but they do not end in a PECB credential. US$195 includes the official PECB eLearning, the exam voucher with two remote-proctored attempts, and the PECB Certificate Holder in ISO/IEC 27001 Foundation credential when you pass.
Is the certification recognised in the US?
Yes. PECB is an international certification body, and the credential is the same certificate wherever you sit the exam.
Can I sit the exam without the course?
No. PECB requires its official training course before the exam, so the course and the exam voucher are sold together.
Is a copy of the ISO 27001 standard included?
No, and you do not need it to complete the course or pass the exam. ISO/IEC 27001 is a licensed document, so if you want your own copy you buy it from iso.org or the ANSI Webstore.
